Footprints on My Soul – Journal of a Circuit Court Judge

Through the lens of her private thoughts and feelings, Laura Melvin, a retired Circuit Judge, describes her view from the Bench. To provide a framework for the stories of the people she encountered and their impact upon her (many of whom were children), Laura tells her own story as a female in the Deep South, raised in a conservative culture with strict expectations. Laura relates her struggle to define justice and her decision to leave the Bench after ten years to travel around the country in an RV.  The book was originally published under the title of Public Secrets & Justice – journal of a Circuit Court Judge. Laura soon realized that the title Footprints on My Soul better conveys the impact that the children she encountered on the Bench have had on her life.
